Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep

Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep

...this is a really gorgeous Bighorn Ram which was grazing east of Jasper, Alberta. This and another Ram were separated from the main herd of sheep. The horns of a sheep are never shed, and a line is formed every winter when the horn growth slows. This can be used to tell the age of a particular animal. If you click on this photo again to enlarge it more, you'll notice how the eyes of this species sometimes look just like glass!
